Glazed onions

  • 450 g onions, peeled
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp cane sugar
  • 2 tbsp thyme, dried, crushed
  • 1 tsp fresh ground salt
  • 1 pinch freshly ground black pepper
  • 150 ml water
Preparation

  1. Clean onions. Pat dry with paper towels.
  2. Heat olive oil in 20-cm skillet and add onions.
  3. Cook for 5 minutes or until it starts to brown.
  4. Sprinkle with sugar and season with spices.
  5. Add 150ml water and thyme; cook for 20 minutes or until onions are tender and water vaporizes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Serve as a side dish.
