Oven-baked bacon pears

  • 6 pcs pears, peeled
  • 12 slice bacon
  • 1 tsp white pepper, ground
  • 3 sprig thyme, fresh, minced

  1. Line the bacon slices onto a working surface then sprinkle with white pepper and a few leaves of thyme, keeping most of it for baking.
  2. Roll the bacon slices (2 per pear) around the pears, starting from the bottom, turning the peppered side inside, touching the pears. If needed, fix the bacon slices at the top with a toothpick.
  3. Place the pears into a not sticky-surfaced baking tray (or the best is a heat-safe ceramic pot) with 2tbsp water on the bottom. Add the thyme sprigs around and cover them with a foil.
  4. Bake them on 140°C for 15 minutes, then take the cover off and bake them for 8 more minutes 'til the top of the bacon slices starts to be roasted.
  5. Serve them warm, after baking, as warm entrée.
