Thanksgiving vegetarian gravy

  • 60 ml vegetable oil
  • 60 g all purpose flour
  • 240 ml Vegetable stock
  • 1 pcs large onion, chopped
  • 5 clove garlic, minced
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp dry yeast
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tsp sage, ground
  • 2 pinch freshly ground black pepper

  1. Pour the oil in a medium saucepan and place over medium heat.
  2. Add the onions and the garlic and sauté for 5 minutes until they become soft.
  3. Slowly stir in the flour, soy sauce and the yeast until it forms a thick paste.
  4. Whisk in the vegetable broth and season with salt, sage and black pepper. Once the mixture comes to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. This is a great substitute for turkey gravy.
